Gråsten ♡What you need to know about Svendborg
If neither of you lives in Denmark, you apply for your certificate of marital status at Familieretshuset, the Danish Agency of Family Law. On the day you need valid photo ID, a passport or driving licence; without it, the ceremony cannot take place.
Venue
Svendborg Rådhus, Ramsherred 5, Rådhussal on the first floor. Wait by the stairs in front of entrance B, where the registrar will collect you.
Ceremony days
Monday to Saturday, except public holidays. On weekdays, ceremonies take place at the town hall during opening hours. On Saturdays between 12 noon and 3pm, another venue in the municipality is also possible; note your wish in the marriage declaration.
Photos
Photography and filming are allowed. If the registrar or the witnesses are in the picture, ask their permission first. The staff will also take photos on request.
After the ceremony
On Saturdays a glass of sparkling wine may be served to no more than 25 people, including the couple. Throwing rice is not allowed.
Costs
You pay for your application to Familieretshuset, DKK 2,100. The certificate of marital status is valid for four months.
