Say yes on Ærø. The wedding island of the archipelago.
After Copenhagen, no Danish municipality is chosen more often by couples from abroad than Ærø. The island has its own wedding team and more than 200 wedding days a year, and while most couples marry at the town hall in Ærøskøbing, many say yes outdoors. I photograph your ceremony and then your couple shoot in the lanes of Ærøskøbing, on the beach or by the cliffs.
- Over 200 wedding days a year
- The municipality's own wedding team
- Ferries from Als, Faaborg and Svendborg

Gråsten ♡What you need to know about Ærø
In your application to Familieretshuset, the Danish Agency of Family Law, name Ærø as your wedding municipality. Once your documents have been checked, the certificate goes to the municipality, and the wedding team confirms your date and details by email.
Wedding team
Ærø Municipality has its own team for weddings, reachable at info@weddinginfo.dk and +45 63 52 50 00, weekdays from 9am to 3pm.
Reserving early
You can reserve your preferred date by email even before the certificate arrives. Include both your names, your contact details and the date.
Venues
Most couples marry at the town hall, and many outdoors: on beaches, in the old streets or out in nature.
Familieretshuset
The certificate costs DKK 2,100 and is valid for four months. Each of you submits your part within 14 days.
Getting there
Ferries run from Fynshav on Als to Søby and from Svendborg to Ærøskøbing, each taking about an hour. Allow plenty of time.
Open questions
The municipality says nothing about Saturdays, witnesses, language or number of guests. Clarify these directly with the wedding team.
As of October 2026, without guarantee. Please check the pages of Ærø Municipality and Familieretshuset.
Around Ærøskøbing
We choose the places for your couple shoot together beforehand, depending on light, weather and your package.

The market square with its old linden tree, where couples love to stop for photos.
Vesterstrand
More than 70 colourful bathing huts on the beach at Ærøskøbing. The huts are private, so we photograph from outside.
