You apply to Familieretshuset, the Danish Agency of Family Law, which issues the certificate of marital status (prøvelsesattest) for your wedding in Middelfart. It may be no more than four months old when you hand it in. Arrange your date with Citizen Service (Borgerservice) in good time.
Venue
The town hall, Nytorv 9. On Saturdays between 12 noon and 4pm also elsewhere, for example in gardens, hotels, community halls or on the Old Little Belt Bridge.
Ceremony days
Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 2:30pm, Thursdays from 10am to 4:30pm, Fridays from 10am to 12:30pm. On Saturdays the first ceremony starts at 10am, then every quarter of an hour. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Witnesses
Two are required, and anyone aged 15 or over can be a witness. The municipality may be able to help, but not on Saturdays or for ceremonies outside the town hall.
